Ecological and biological features of old-growth trees of Donetsk city

The article presents the results of a study of old-growth trees in Donetsk. As a result of the conducted research, 7 species have been identified that reach the age of ~100 years or more in the urbanocenoses of Donetsk. Among them are native species: Quercus robur L., Populus nigra L., Fraxinus excelsior L., Pyrus communis L. and introduced species: Robinia pseudoacacia L., Tilia platyphyllos Scop., Ulmus laevis Pall. P. nigra and R. pseudoacacia in urban conditions, they are able to reach their maximum size and even significantly exceed the average for these species, while remaining viable. According to the values of mechanical and morphometric parameters, as well as viability in relation to age, the most stable species (both in an ecologically clean area and anthropogenic pollution) that have reached 50 years or more can be distinguished: Q. robur and Q. robur f. fastigiata, R. pseudoacacia, P. nigra and Populus alba L., F. excelsior, Acer campestre L. and Corylus colurna L.
