E-Resource Management in Computerized Libraries: A Study in Banaskantha District
Abstract:- The advent of computerization has revolutionized library management, particularly in rural districts like Banaskantha, where the integration of digital technologies has transformed traditional libraries into centers of modern information access. This study explores the management of electronic resources (e-resources) in computerized libraries across the Banaskantha district of North Gujarat. It examines how libraries adopt and sustain e-resource systems, addressing key challenges such as funding, infrastructure development, digital literacy, and the maintenance of ICT tools. The study highlights the role of digital libraries in promoting knowledge dissemination and bridging the information gap in rural areas. It investigates the strategies employed by librarians for e-resource acquisition, cataloging, and accessibility. Furthermore, it evaluates user satisfaction and the effectiveness of e-resource management in meeting the educational and informational needs of the community. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data from surveys with qualitative insights from interviews with librarians, educators, and library users. The findings underscore the critical need for improved digital infrastructure, regular training for library staff, and policy support for sustainable ICT practices. This study contributes to the discourse on digital transformation in library science, offering recommendations for enhancing e-resource management to support educational development and information equity in rural areas.
