The sport of cycling in young people as a mechanism to enhance human development. Case study: Kronos MTR team in the city of Bogotá.

This study examines sports cycling as a mechanism to enhance human development in young cyclists of the Kronos MTR team in Bogota. Nussbaum's Capabilities Approach and Ingrid Robeyns' conversion factors were used to analyze the core capabilities of the athletes and the conversion factors that influence their development. The research, based on a systemic approach and a mixed methodology, collects data from 25 young cyclists and identifies their capabilities in terms of affiliation, bodily integrity, practical reason, emotions and play. The results reveal both strengths and weaknesses in the cyclists' capabilities, and a comprehensive strategy is proposed to strengthen these capabilities from a human development perspective. The research contributes to the understanding of the role of sport in human development and provides recommendations for improving opportunities for young cyclists in similar contexts.
