Ethnic Diversity in Iran
Iran is characterized by remarkable ethnic diversity shaped by centuries of migration, conquest, and cultural exchange. This paper explores the historical evolution, current demographics, and sociopolitical implications of Iran’s multiethnic composition. Major ethnic groups—including Persians, Azeris, Kurds, Lurs, Baluchis, Arabs, Turkmens, and others—are examined in terms of language, cultural traditions, geographic distribution, and representation. The article highlights both the contributions and challenges these groups face, analyzing issues of integration, identity, and policy reform. It emphasizes the importance of inclusive education, media visibility, and equitable governance. Ultimately, the study argues that embracing ethnic pluralism is key to strengthening national cohesion and fostering a more resilient and unified society in the context of global multiculturalism.
