A working proposal for ISB recommendations on open-access kinematic data sharing
This document serves as a preliminary draft to support early discussions within the biomechanics community on best practices for sharing human kinematic data. While we appreciate that the ISB community extends well beyond this form of data, we have elected to focus on human kinematic data due to its ubiquity. Our intention is that the proposed best practice model will eventually extend to further forms of biomechanical data. This document is intended to accompany the ISB Conference session Towards a Community-Endorsed Research Environment to Enable Standardised Data Sharing in the Human Movement Sciences, to be held in Stockholm in July 2025. The primary goal is to initiate a collaborative dialogue aimed at building consensus around key recommendations. Feedback and insights gathered during these initial conversations will directly inform the development of a comprehensive proposal for a new ISB recommendations paper. This draft provides a concise summary of only the proposed key recommendations, to be part of the complete manuscript, where each topic will be examined in greater detail.
