Developing Communicative Competence: A Study of LSRW Skills at the Undergraduate Level
Abstract Language skills are foundational for academic achievement and employability. The four core skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing (LSRW)—form the basis of communicative competence. This research paper explores the proficiency levels, challenges, and influencing factors in the development of LSRW skills among undergraduate (UG) students. Using a mixed-method approach, the study aims to understand the gaps between expected and actual performance and to suggest effective strategies to enhance these skills in an ESL (English as a Second Language) context.
