D1.2 Developing a local readiness level scale

The D1.2 report presents the findings on the development of the Collaborative Capacity Maturity Model (C2M2). This model has been designed to support the engagement of various stakeholders in the LAUDS project and allow a self-evaluation of their readiness to collaborate during the process of building a LAUDS factory. It explores the theoretical foundations of urban manufacturing and the critical role of collaboration to achieve successful outcomes, particularly within distributed and decentralized industrial ecosystems. The maturity model approach forms the core of this framework, as it is a widely recognized tool for assessing an organization’s capabilities in specific domains. In order to gain deeper insights into stakeholders' collaboration needs, the deliverable employs persona analysis to define the present profiles. This analysis, combined with a comprehensive literature review on the requirements for effective collaboration, provided the foundation for the design of the C2M2. The model is structured around key readiness dimensions and sub-categories, such as trust, communication, and information organization, classifying maturity levels into four stages: Ad-hoc, Basic, Defined, and Optimized. Empirical validation was carried out through a workshop that served to validate and refine the initial version of the C2M2. Feedback from participants provided valuable insights, that improved the model to be better aligned with real-world collaboration needs. The final refined C2M2 is presented as a tool for enhancing collaborative capacity in LAUDS. The model offers practical benefits, including the ability to evaluate and improve collaborative readiness and to facilitate stakeholders’ engagement, fostering a sustainable, resilient and effective collaboration. This model has been developed to pave the way for creating the desired and favorable results by raising awareness of key collaboration success factors and driving innovation in the development of improvement strategies to address areas of weakness.
