Implications of effluent and waste water streams on quality of soil
Abstract: The primary motive of this project was to assess the health of soil samples collected from various locations, including industrial sites, farmlands, playgrounds, petrol pump areas, and ordinance (government agency) sites. Effluents, excess pesticides, toxic chemicals enter soil through water streams and subsequently enter into vegetables, grains and fruits etc. cultivated in soil. Those toxic contents even in trace amount are responsible for number of disease and even cancer. By analyzing key parameters such as heavy metals iron (Fe), lead (Pb) content, we aimed to evaluate the potential risks and fertility levels of the sampled soils. Heavy metal contamination in particular, poses significant health and environmental concerns. To achieve these objectives, a systematic approach was employed, involving soil sampling, preparation, and analysis using reliable laboratory techniques. The results revealed that iron, lead were present in measurable quantities across various samples, with industrial and petrol pump sites exhibiting higher levels of heavy metal contamination compared to farm and playground areas
