Cinema is one of the most popular art forms in the world. As an art form that is considered more than entertainment but also as an industry, and as a medium that provides employment and wealth, cinema becomes a part of the lives of the audience. On the basis of literature, cinema is very relevant as an art that combines various arts from around the world and influences people's lives in many ways. Since cinema always represents human life, it has been considered as a subtle marker of each era. K. Jayaraj is a director who has been recognized with various awards, including several international awards. This paper studies how two films directed by Jayaraj, based on different times and countries, mark the cultural identity of Kerala in the first year of the 21st century.
