Modelos Alternativos De Conteo Para Los Componentes Del Cpo En Un Estudio Poblacional
Currently, there are several indicators of the different dimensions that are determined at the individual level in oral health from an epidemiological perspective. Within those that correspond to the Caries pathology, the CPO, ceo, ICDAS indicators are considered, among others. The CPO is a unidimensional index that counts the number of decayed teeth C, lost P, and filled O teeth and when it must be evaluated in a regression context, it is a particular case of a Counting Model, where the response variable refers to the number of times an event occurs, the counting event being the realization of a non-negative random variable, being able to work with the conceptual framework of the theory of Generalized Linear Models (GLM). A review of the literature shows that not much attention is paid to these aspects, where when alternatives to the Poisson model are chosen, the adjustment capacity is not worked on and only the predictive one, where those that show significant variables but that could be very poor at predicting are considered. This last aspect is relevant because, based on these models, researchers end up developing theories to explain pathologies based on variables that are not good predictors.
