SECreTour Data Management Plan I

The SECreTour consortium strongly believes in open science and the benefits the Eu-ropean innovation ecosystem and economy can draw from allowing the re-use of data on a larger scale. Despite this, while carrying out networking or pilot activities, individ-ual partners will manage personal information and will work with local groups, col-lecting personal and potentially sensitive data, and will need to consider privacy and ethical issues. A balance between these two principles will guide the SECreTour project’s data management policy. The purpose of this Data Management Plan (DMP) is to describe the main elements of the data management policy that will be used in the project and by the consortium concerning the project data. This DMP covers the complete data life cycle. It provides a first description of the types of data that is expected to be generated or collected during the project, the standards and channels that will be used, how the data will be treated and preserved and what parts of the datasets will be shared or could be re-usable. The DMP will ensure that data management and protection is compliant with EU principles and standards and with relevant national data protection laws and institutional data management policies. All produced data will be treated according to the management guidelines. The consortium is aware of and will comply with European and national legislation and fundamental ethical principles, including those reflected in the Charter of Fundamen-tal Rights of the European Union, the European Convention on Human Rights and its Supplementary Protocols. The activities of the SECreTour project will comply with The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity and the European General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR. SECreTour is not a data-intensive project. Despite that, data will be an important part of the work carried out both in the pilots and by some of the cross-cutting WPs and will be treated with due diligence. The DMP is conceived as a living document, which will evolve and will be regularly reviewed and updated during the project lifespan, particularly whenever significant decisions and milestones are reached. This docu-ment represents the first version of the DMP. An important decision, taken at the project level since the proposal stage, has been to centralise the publication of datasets, publications and other outputs in a dedicated Zenodo community (https://zenodo.org/communities/secretour), instead of relying on separate repositories, under the responsibility of each partner.
