Paddy is regarded as one of the most significant and widely consumed crops in the Koch Bihar district. The current study investigates the socio-economic condition of paddy growers in Koch Bihar district. The study is based on both primary and secondary data sources. The study is based on present variables, i.e., demographic, economic, and social variables. Multiple problems associated with agriculture, economic status, and social structures affect the socio-economic circumstances of paddy growers in Koch Bihar district. Evaluating their situations requires looking at many factors, including landholding patterns, agricultural techniques, income levels, access to resources, and farmers' challenges. The economy of Koch Bihar is largely agrarian, with paddy being the dominant crop. Most farmers in the district depend on rice farming as their primary source of livelihood. An important number of paddy growers in Koch Bihar are small and marginal cultivators. Many own less than two hectares of land, and some are landless agricultural laborers; also, the income of paddy farmers in Koch Bihar is relatively low. They are often dependent on traditional agricultural methods, which lead to lower productivity. The lack of access to modern farming technology, quality seeds, and irrigation facilities further hampers their output and income potential. Overall, paddy is the primary food crop for 90 percent of the state's population. Paddy cultivation is crucial for the local economy and food security. It provides a living for many farmers and contributes to the region's total agricultural production.
