Navigating AI: an opportunity for libraries

This presentation was delivered during the 2025 Medical Library Association Annual Meeting in the "AI, Health Data and Librarianship: Strategies for Responsible Use" Symposium. AI offers transformative potential in health research but requires careful consideration to properly address ethical challenges like algorithmic bias, transparency, and data privacy. This proesentation explores the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), data, and medical librarianship, focusing on how librarians can support responsible AI use in research environments. Through real-world case studies we demonstrate a few examples of how AI is reshaping scholarly communication and health research efforts. Librarians play a critical role in AI as educators, collaborators, and ethical stewards to guide the thoughtful, inclusive, and effective use of AI technologies in health research and scholarly communications.
