Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's Initiative Approach To Water Management
Abstract: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s approach to water management was deeply rooted in his vision for social justice, equality, and empowerment. Recognizing the crucial role of water in both agriculture and daily life, Ambedkar understood that equitable access to water was essential for the upliftment of marginalized communities, particularly the Dalits. His initiative towards water management was not merely a technical or environmental issue, but a social and political one, where water resources became a symbol of power and privilege. Ambedkar’s focus on water management was evident in his efforts to challenge the oppressive social structures that restricted access to water for lower castes. He advocated for the construction of public water infrastructure that would be accessible to all, irrespective of caste or social standing. One of his key contributions in this regard was his work in promoting the establishment of irrigation systems and the development of water resources that could improve agricultural productivity for marginalized communities. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's approach to water management went beyond mere infrastructure development and tapped into the deeper socio-political dimensions of water access and distribution. His views on water management were closely tied to his broader vision of social justice, dismantling the caste-based hierarchies that perpetuated inequality
