THE SUCCESS FACTORS OF THE ERP IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT AND HOW THEY AFFECT THE SUCCESS OF THE IMPLEMENTATION AT SOMTEL TELECOM
Abstract The purpose of this report is to evaluate the impact of Somtel Telecom Somalia’s top management support, user involvement, vendor support, training, and project management in achieving successful ERP implementation. This is important because the SomaTel Multinational Telecom Company successfully introduced its ERP System implementation with little resistance. Participants who took part in the ERP implementation process such as project managers, IT experts, and employees were surveyed and interviewed using the mixed methods strategy. A combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was employed to achieve a comprehensive overview of the subject-matter scope. Based on gathered data, it was noted that there is a noticeable correlation between commitment from the top management of the organization, and user training features alongside engagement levels to the success of ERP projects. In contrary, budgetary limitations, complexity in integrating systems, and change aversion were classified as hurdles to fully adopting ERP. Furthermore, enhanced training programs and improved users’ engagement offer great potential in building a more positive environment for successful ERP implementations. The research results consider the need for an adequate implementation strategy, sufficient training, and post-installation support in order to ensure accurate functioning of the ERP system. Other recommendations are to strengthen users’ management participation, create an innovation friendly environment, and follow scientific methods in project management to increase ERP acceptance. These are also useful for policymakers, IT managers, and business executives that want to increase the efficacy of ERP systems in Somalia.
