Proposal for a Global Interstellar Propulsion Initiative
Humanity stands at an unprecedented threshold in its history. Faced with growing challenges on Earth and an innate yearning for exploration, we propose a bold global initiative: the development and construction of advanced nuclear fusion-powered spacecraft to enable efficient interplanetary travel and, ultimately, interstellar voyages to nearby star systems like Alpha Centauri. This document outlines a phased technological roadmap, starting with the mastery of D-T fusion, progressing to Helium-3 mining, and culminating in the construction of vessels capable of sustained acceleration, providing artificial gravity, shielding against cosmic radiation, and drastically reduced transit times. For periods of non-acceleration or partial acceleration, the spacecraft will incorporate internal spherical rotating chambers to generate simulated gravity. To maintain the optimistic timeline proposed, it is imperative that initial studies and experiments with key materials, such as Jadarite, for D-T reactor construction, begin immediately. Such an endeavor not only ensures the resilience of our species and the exploration of vast resources but also offers a unifying purpose for global civilization. We invite the international community to unite in this effort that will define the future of humanity.
