Innovative Hydrophobic Gels: Transforming Solid-State Organic Chemistry & Energy Storage
Hydrophobic gels are emerging as pivotal materials for energy storage and catalysis due to their tunable properties. This project synthesizes a hydrophobic gel via a multistep approach involving silica gel modification with Tetramethylchlorosilane (TMCS). The resulting material exhibits enhanced stability, porosity, and adaptability for applications in batteries and organic synthesis. Key results include high turnover frequency (TOF) and specific capacitance (250 F/g), demonstrating its potential for industrial use. The study underscores the gel’s role in advancing sustainable energy and chemical production.
