DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF CONTEXTUALIZED LEARNING MATERIALS FOR ENGLISH 8

This study aimed to develop and validate contextualized learning materials for English 8 to enhance student performance, address content and language gaps in existing resources, and support learners with limited access to technology. The researcher employed a descriptive-evaluative research design and adhered to the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) to create structured and engaging materials. The study was conducted in Torrijos District, Marinduque, with 14 English teachers, three master teachers, one supervisor, and 30 Grade 8 students selected through purposive sampling. A standardized module evaluation checklist and a Likert-scale questionnaire were used to assess the contextualized learning materials regarding objectives, content, language, and assessment, obtaining Very Much Valid with a rating of 4.62, indicating high quality. A paired t-test shows that students' scores increased from 16.03 on the pre-test to 40.60 on the post-test, indicating that the contextualized learning materials for English 8 helped boost students' interest, comprehension, and academic performance. Based on the results, this study recommends the use of contextualized learning materials for English 8 as additional resources, supported by quality assurance, teacher orientation, responsible student use, continued development efforts, and further research for broader validation and application.
