D6.6 - Neutrality Story Maps for Pilot Cities 1
Deliverable 6.6 outlines the first version of the Neutrality Story Maps (NSM), a digital tool created as part of the UP2030 project to enhance citizen engagement in urban climate action. NSM integrates digital storytelling with geospatial mapping, allowing cities to communicate climate-related challenges and citizens to share their experiences and aspirations for climate neutrality. The tool's development is guided by a co-creative process involving pilot cities, ensuring it meets their specific needs and supports the project’s goal of supporting the EU’s climate neutrality 2030 goals. The document details the methodology used to gather user requirements through workshops, interviews, and surveys with city representatives and citizens. The initial feedback informed the design of the first version of the NSM platform, which features interactive stories geotagged on a map, promoting a participatory approach to urban planning. During the first iteration of co-design (M14-M18), aspects such as how to align the tool with pilot-specific goals, barriers, and motivations for participation, and preferred features and functionalities were addressed.Further refinements will be made based on continued feedback from the pilot cities in the second iteration of co-design (scheduled for M22-M36). The aim is to have an operational NSM page for each city by the end of the project, populated with climate stories that contribute to more inclusive and resilient urban futures. This report presents the early stages of NSM’s development, highlighting its potential to raise awareness about climate change and drive meaningful engagement in urban climate action.
