Nessun dorma

This work explores the nature of dream identity through a self-experiment involving repeated nighttime audio affirmations. The recorded phrases — including empowering statements and Taoist reflections — were played in a loop during sleep over several nights. The resulting dreams were surprisingly coherent and symbolically rich, revealing an autonomous, reflective dream-self. This suggests that the unconscious is not a passive receiver but a selective and creative interpreter of external stimuli.

Abstract

This work explores the nature of dream identity through a self-experiment involving repeated nighttime audio affirmations. The recorded phrases — including empowering statements and Taoist reflections — were played in a loop during sleep over several nights. The resulting dreams were surprisingly coherent and symbolically rich, revealing an autonomous, reflective dream-self. This suggests that the unconscious is not a passive receiver but a selective and creative interpreter of external stimuli.
