THE ROLE OF METAPHOR IN THE FORMATION OF LINGUOCULTURAL COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS

It is difficult to overestimate the role of metaphor in human life, since they accompany us throughout our lives, playing a major role in communication. A person, cognizing the world, perceives its individual fragments (phenomena, processes, objects, etc.) through certain images, ideas and associations, comparing them with things already known to him. An appropriate choice of metaphorical images depending on the communicative situation allows us to judge the ability of communicants to codify cultural knowledge and thereby demonstrate a high level of communication skills. The formation of these skills begins in childhood, receiving further development and improvement at school. The success of learning depends on taking into account the properties of metaphor as a cognitive tool. The subject of this article is the search for ways to form a metaphorical picture of the world of students. The goal is to identify the linguodidactic potential of metaphor as a cognitive tool for the formation, development and improvement of the communicative competence of students.
