Mercurofungal Hypothesis: Possible Role of Fungi, Especially Candida, and Mercury on Gut Mucosa in Depression
This document introduces a novel hypothesis called "Mercurofungal Syndrome." The hypothesis suggests that the proliferation of fungi on the gut mucosa and the accumulation of trace amounts of mercury are closely related, and that this interaction may lead to symptoms resembling depression. This hypothesis is based on continuous observation of daily symptom changes in the author and several individuals with similar symptoms discovered by the author. The hypothesis is presented here for academic discussion and future scientific investigation.
