ATUAÇÃO FARMACÊUTICA EM ATIVIDADES DE EDUCAÇÃO EM SAÚDE SOBRE PLANTAS MEDICINAIS

The use of medicinal plants in the context of primary health care is a reality. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss the topic in order to deconstruct some inherent issues, particularly safety of use. The objective was to report the experience of developing a health education activity on the topic within the scope of primary care in a municipality in Seridó Potiguar during the year 2024. To this end, a bibliographical survey and direct observation of work processes were carried out. /routine of services, in order to identify user needs. Once this was done, the workshop “Talking about the Rational Use of Medicinal Plants” was planned and executed. Aspects about the concept, origin of use, production of synthetic medicines from these, scientific and popular nomenclature, identification of plant species, difference between types of teas and safety and effectiveness of use were covered. These were approached using teaching-learning methodologies, chat circles and gamification, using thematic puzzles and true and false dynamics. The pedagogical objectives were achieved. This was, in particular, enhanced by encouraging the mobilization of users' prior knowledge via pharmaceutical activities, in order to encourage dialogue between academic and popular knowledge about the physicochemical, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic aspects of drugs. Experiences like this strengthen the role of primary care as a space for health promotion, appreciation of popular knowledge and promotion of self-care.
