Gamification Ethical Marketing Docs

This article explores the application of gamification as an innovative pedagogical tool for teaching ethical decision-making within the context of marketing. Marketing has long struggled with a reputation for unethical practices, contributing to a crisis of trust among consumers. Traditional methods of ethics education often fail to bridge the gap between abstract ethical theories and their practical application in complex, real-world scenarios. Gamification, the integration of game elements into non-game contexts, offers a dynamic solution by engaging learners through interactive decision-making scenarios that simulate ethical dilemmas. Drawing on a specific game designed to present players with ethical and financial tradeoffs, this article examines how gamification can illustrate deontological and teleological ethical frameworks, enhance critical thinking, and foster a deeper understanding of ethical principles. Through detailed analyses of game scenarios, discussions of theoretical underpinnings, andevaluations of gamification’s benefits, this work argues that gamification holds significant potential to transform ethics education in marketing, preparing students and professionals to navigate the ethical challenges of the field effectively.
