Design and Fabrication of Foundry Sand Mixer
This study looks into the precise design factors and performance characteristics of sand mixersused in foundry operations, with an emphasis on improving mixing efficiency and assuring constantsand quality. The study investigates how various parameters, such as auger screw geometry, rotatingspeed, mixing time, and chamber design, affect the homogeneity, particle size distribution, and moisturecontent of sandy mixes. Computational fluid dynamics simulations are used to examine fluid andparticle dynamics within the mixing chamber, allowing for the development of optimal designconfigurations for improved mixing performance. Material selection parameters, such as mechanicalstrength, wear resistance, and chemical compatibility, are carefully considered to ensure the durabilityand endurance of sand mixer components in harsh foundry conditions. The integration of automation technology, such as programmable logic controllers (PLC) andhuman-machine interfaces, being investigated as a method of streamlining sand preparation processes, reducing manual labour, and increasing total productivity. This study's findings provide vital insightsinto the improved design and operation of sand mixers, which will help to build more efficient, dependable, and cost-effective sand preparation procedures for the foundry industry. Statistical analysisis used to determine the impact of design parameters on the mixing process. The constructed mixeroutperforms imported existing counterparts, indicating its ability to eliminate the requirement forforeign exchange expenditures on foundry equipment.
