Main Difficulties and Limitations in Teaching Writing Skills to Secondary School Students
Abstract: This article explores the primary challenges and limitations faced by educators in teaching writing skills to secondary school students. Writing, as a productive skill, requires not only linguistic competence but also cognitive, motivational, and methodological support. Teachers frequently encounter student disengagement, varying proficiency levels, large class sizes, and insufficient training or resources. These issues are compounded by rigid curricula and exam-oriented instruction. Drawing from both international and regional sources—including Russian and Uzbek research—this article provides a comparative perspective on the most common difficulties in writing instruction, supported by practical solutions and evidence-based recommendations.
