Relatability and Us ~ The Unknown Miracle: A Psychological Theory on Emotional Engagement and Cognitive Connection
This paper introduces a new psychological theory titled “Relatability and Us ~ The Unknown Miracle”, which explores how people emotionally and cognitively connect with ideas, content, or experiences that mirror their own. Relatability, often overlooked in academic psychology, is proposed here as a dynamic mechanism that drives engagement, memory, and behavior. Grounded in personal observations and supported by psychological frameworks like Social Identity Theory, Transportation Theory, and Schema Theory, this work highlights how relatability influences learning, entertainment, leadership, marketing, and everyday decision-making. The theory argues that what we relate to is what we remember, believe, and act upon — making relatability a powerful tool in shaping human thought and interaction. This updated version of the Relatability Theory presents an improved explanation of how and why people connect with familiar experiences, emotions, and situations. It now includes a structured questionnaire, a new measurable index for relatability (URI), and visual graphs showing the overall results and gender-based patterns. The update makes the theory more complete, clearer to understand, and supported with real data
