Cytomegalovirus and lung cancer: Beyond Coincidence?
Background:Cytomegalovirus (CMV) has been suggested as a potential risk factor for lung cancer. However, the relationship between CMV infection and lung cancer remains not well-defined.Material and methods:A sample size of n = 247, 318 was investigated using novel statistical methods, including causal relationship analysis and necessary condition testing. Results:The results indicated a strong relationship between CMV infection and lung cancer, suggesting that CMV infection is a necessary condition for the development of lung cancer. Conclusion:Based on the analysis, we conclude that CMV infection is a necessary condition for lung cancer. However, further research is needed to fully understand the underlying mechanisms.
