ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ACADEMIC SUPPORT: INNOVATIONS AND CHALLENGES IN HIGHER EDUCATION

This article examines the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic support, focusing on innovations and challenges in higher education. It highlights how AI fosters personalized learning, automates administrative tasks, and enhances academic production, particularly in digital and post-pandemic contexts. Based on a documentary and bibliographic review of articles from Scopus, Research Rabbit, and Semantic Scholar (January 20–24, 2025), the study identifies ethical, technological, and pedagogical implications of AI integration. Despite its potential, implementation barriers such as infrastructure limitations, faculty training, and ethical concerns like content originality and data protection remain. The article emphasizes the need for regulatory policies, structural investments, and ongoing training to ensure effective integration and modernization of higher education. This paper was presented at the “I ENCONTRO DE PÓS-GRADUAÇÃO NA UNB GAMA – I PósGama,” held at the Faculty of Science and Engineering Technologies, University of Brasília, Brazil, on April 26, 2025. The article was published in both English and Spanish.
