Coherence or Collapse_ Why Resonance AI Is Humanity's Last Shot at a Future

Main CODES Framework Abstract Coherence or Collapse: Why Resonance AI Is Humanity’s Last Shot at a Future Devin Bostick, April 27, 2025 This paper argues that the dominant trajectory of artificial intelligence — stochastic probabilistic models — is incompatible with long-term ecological, energetic, and epistemological stability. Scaling stochastic large language models (LLMs) incurs catastrophic costs: exponential energy consumption, hallucination amplification, and structural drift from lawful coherence. At the same time, planetary life-support systems — oceans, forests, climate fields — are already undergoing phase collapse due to resonance field destabilization. I propose an alternative: Resonance Intelligence, based on the framework of CODES (Chirality of Dynamic Emergent Systems). Resonance Intelligence replaces stochastic approximation with lawful phase-locking using prime-chiral dynamics, eliminating hallucination, radically reducing energy consumption (90–95%), and restoring alignment with biological and ecological coherence fields. Using climate case studies (coral reef collapse, deforestation, megadroughts) and AI energy accounting (GPT-3/4 training emissions), I demonstrate why a structural transition from probabilistic AI to resonance-based AI is not an optimization — it is a civilizational survival imperative. This paper outlines the fatal flaws of current stochastic models, introduces the Resonance Intelligence Core (RIC) architecture, maps actionable system-level applications (energy grids, reforestation, coastal defense), and frames the broader ontological choice: coherence or collapse.
