CitiObs at the Citizen Science Poster Session at the 2025 Dresden Nexus Conference

In April 2025, the global Resource Nexus community came together in Dresden, Germany, to discuss the future of resource management. With a focus on integrated (“nexus”) approaches, the Dresden Nexus Conference brings together experts from research, education/capacity building, policy/governance, and the community of practice. DNC 2025 marked the 10th anniversary of the Dresden Nexus Conference. This makes it the perfect time not only to look at lessons learned in the past but also at the role that nexus approaches can, will, or should play in driving sustainable development in the future and how they relate to UN strategies such as the post-2030 agenda and the Pact for the Future. It will also provide state- of-the-art examples of citizen science approaches and their outcomes and impacts. Attendees were also invited to take part in breakout sessions to discuss critical topics related to the path ahead for citizen science, including the role of the UN and UNU, project upscaling, and a stakeholder Nexus to provide sustainable remedies.

Abstract

CitiObs joined a group of Citizen Science colleagues in convening a dedicated at the conference on: Nexus Thinking in Action: How Citizen Science Shapes Sustainability The session presented and expanded upon the critical role of citizen-gathered data and societal participation in informing evidence-based policy-making for sustainable development.
