Evaluation Of The Antidiabetic Potential Of Jasminum Sambac

Abstract: Jasminum sambac (L.) (Oleaceae) is traditionally used as an anti-nociceptive, anti-inflammatory agent and for various therapeutic actions. The purpose of the current study is to investigate and evaluate the antidiabetic properties of J.Sambac leaves. The health impact of J.Sambac aq. Leaf extract was estimated in experimental models of diabetes via the fall peroxidase method. At 200 to 300 mg/kg doses, the leaf extract demonstrated a marked reduction in blood glucose levels in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats with a maximum effect at 300 mg/kg. In the STZ-induced method, treatment with aqueous extract (200 to 300 mg/kg) showed a marked reduction in blood glucose levels, highlighting an important improvement in health metrics compared to control vehicle-treated animals. There was considerable inhibition in glucose levels with 200 to 400 mg/kg of aqueous extracts. The antidiabetic effects observed by the extract were compared to standard. Our study concludes that aq. leaf extract of J.Sambac exhibits significant anti-diabetic effects.
