The Relationship between Physical Fitness and Mental Well-being in Students

Abstract Physical fitness plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health, including mental well-being. This study examines the relationship between physical fitness and mental health among students, focusing on stress reduction, mood enhancement, and cognitive performance. Using a mixed-method approach, data was collected from students through surveys, fitness assessments, and psychological well-being scales. The findings suggest that students who engage in regular physical activity experience lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression while reporting higher self-esteem and improved concentration in academic tasks. The study also highlights the importance of integrating structured physical education programs into school curricula to promote holistic well-being. These results emphasize the need for educational institutions to encourage physical activity as a proactive measure to enhance students' mental health. Future research should explore long-term effects and intervention strategies to maximize the benefits of physical fitness on mental well-being.
