Adaptive Terrestrial-Laser Orbital Mesh (ATLOM): A Dual-Use Architecture for Orbital Safety and National Defense
This paper presents ATLOM, the Adaptive Terrestrial-Laser Orbital Mesh — a dual-use terrestrial laser platform supported by a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite-based optical relay network. ATLOM is designed for applications ranging from missile interception to orbital debris mitigation and asteroid deflection. By reflecting high-energy beams via orbital mirrors, the system forms a dynamic, AI-guided laser grid. This architecture enables real-time engagement of high-speed threats while remaining flexible enough for civil and planetary protection missions. This proposal emphasizes treaty compliance and international cooperation while offering strategic scalability.
