The cosmetics used for beautification or enhancement of appearance are in high demand especially among the women but these products have deep dark side. Here we are not talking about any specific cosmetics type, we are talking about the chemical ingredients used in the formulations like polyethylene glycol, phthalates, parabens, hydroquinone, resorcinol, 1,4 dioxane, trace heavy metals etc. Recent epidemiological studies suggest a complex relationship between cosmetic product use and breast cancer risk. The integrity products are founded by common ingredients such as aluminum compounds found in personal care, paraben, retinol, mercury and hydroquinone for skin lightening. This review highlighted the current evidence regarding these endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and their potential role in breast cancer development. Analysis of both in-vitro and in-vivo studies reveals that certain preservatives and chemical constituents in cosmetics can exhibit weak estrogenic activity and may accumulate the breast tissue.
