Cost-competitiveness of irrigation and nutrient management strategies for closing global yield gaps
(1) cost-competitiveness_baseline.nc: Cost-competitiveness under baseline scenario. (2) cost-competitiveness_yield_gap_closure.nc: The difference between cost-competitiveness with yield gap closure and the baseline without yield gap closure. (3) Classification_regions.nc: Classification of economically sustainable regions for yied gap closure, categorized into four tiers based on cost-competitiveness: low, medium, high, and extremely high, corresponding to cost thresholds of $0–800, $800–1600, $1600–2400, and over $2400 per hectare, respectively. Categories 1–4 represent low, medium, high, and extremely high economically sustainable pixels, respectively. Categories 5 and 6 denote cost-effective pixels with unsustainable irrigation and cost-ineffective pixels, respectively. (4) harvest_area_by_classified_regions.xlsx: Harvest area in countries under four classifications (Mha). For further details, please contact Chenchen Ren ([email protected]) or Lorenzo Rosa ([email protected]).
