Mapping the Landscape of Life in the Poetry of Jayanta Mahapatra

Jayanata Mahapatra, the Sahitya Akademi award winner for Relationship in 1981 is a very reflective and serious poet who, by virtue of his poetic art, turned his local poetry into the global poetry. On 27 August, 2023, Death took him away from this mundane world. The poet is dead, not his poetry. This paper explores the various dimensions of Mahapatra’s poetry and reveals his contriubution to the field of Indian Poetry in English trhough excertps from almost all his poetry collections.
