Primary extranodal MALT Lymphoma of the cecal appendix. A case report
Background: Primary cecal appendix lymphoma is extremely rare and belongs to the group of lymphomas of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT). They are primarily diagnosed after patients undergo surgery for a condition resembling acute appendicitis. Histopathological examination of the surgical specimen is essential for a definitive diagnosis. We present the case of a healthy 53-year-old man, with no prior chronic illnesses, in whom a tumor was identified in the distal ileum during a screening colonoscopy. Keywords: MALT lymphoma, appendix, gastrointestinal lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
