Literatura Ucraniana: um estudo do romance historico Roksolana de Ossep Nazaruk
This study, of an interpretative bibliographic nature, analyzes the work Roksolana (2023) by Ossep Nazaruk (1883 – 1940), a Ukrainian writer translated by Emílio Gaudeda. It is a historical novel written in 1918 during the communist period in the Soviet Union, but only published in 1930. The plot is contextualized in the 16th century, in the period from 1518 to 1566, in Ukraine - between the city of Rohaten and Lviv - and also in Turkey in Constantinople, today Istanbul, in the Ottoman Empire during the reign of Suleiman, known as the Great. The author tells the story of Nastunia Lissovska, who was kidnapped by the Crimean Tatars on her wedding day and sold as a slave to the Sultan's harem. She became a powerful sultana, exerting significant influence over the Ottoman Empire in a way that no other woman had ever achieved before, and was called El Khurrem and/or Roxolana. The analysis focuses on the historical context of Ukraine and the female power exercised by Nastunia Lissovska in the 16th century.
