Kitchen Wastewater Treatment Using Banana Pith Powder, Moringa Seed Powder, and Multi- Media Filter
This research investigates the effectiveness of Moringa oleifera seed powder and banana pith powderas natural coagulants followed by multimedia filtration for the treatment of canteen kitchen wastewater. Thestudy aims to provide an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to conventional chemical coagulants.Experimental analysis using the jar test method and subsequent multimedia filtration was conducted toevaluate the removal efficiency of turbidity, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biochemical OxygenDemand (BOD), and Total Suspended Solids (TSS). Results indicate that both moringa seed and bananapith powders are effective in reducing pollutants, with the multimedia filter further polishing the treatedwater. Combined use of natural coagulants followed by filtration demonstrates a promising sustainablewastewater management approach.
