Leveraging Cryptocurrency and Blockchain for High-Tech and Deep-Tech Financing

This paper examines the transformative impact and strategic potential of cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies as alternative financing instruments for high-tech and deep-tech ventures. It critiques the limitations inherent in conventional financial systems, delineates the structural and operational advantages of blockchain - specifically, transparency, security, and transactional efficiency - and analyses decentralised models, including initial coin offerings (ICOs), security token offerings (STOs), and decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs). The study draws on emblematic case studies to illustrate applied success and forecasts emerging trends that signal institutional adoption and regulatory shifts. Furthermore, it outlines risk mitigation strategies and governance frameworks essential for maintaining market integrity and protecting investors. The paper ultimately advocates for a systematic integration of blockchain-based financing mechanisms into innovation policy and capital formation strategies (Catalini and Gans, 2016; Zohar, 2015).
