Black Hole Information Paradox and Firewalls Reconciling Quantum Mechanics with Spacetime Horizons

Abstract: The Black Hole Information Paradox remains one of the most profound unresolved challenges at the intersection of quantum mechanics and general relativity. The classical description of black holes suggests that information falling into an event horizon is irretrievably lost, conflicting with the principles of quantum unitarity. In an attempt to resolve this paradox, recent proposals such as the firewall hypothesis, soft hair on black holes, and quantum entanglement models have emerged as possible mechanisms to reconcile quantum information theory with gravitational physics. This paper systematically examines competing solutions to the information paradox, including Hawking radiation modifications, black hole complementarity, quantum extremal surfaces, and entanglement entropy constraints. We explore whether firewalls, wormhole-based ER=EPR dualities, or holographic reconstructions provide a consistent picture of black hole evaporation. Additionally, we assess the observational implications of these models, including possible deviations in gravitational wave ringdowns, echoes, and Planck-scale quantum effects. Key Highlights: Analysis of proposed resolutions to the black hole information paradox. Evaluation of the firewall hypothesis and its implications for event horizon physics. Quantum entanglement and holography as possible unitarity-preserving mechanisms. Potential observational signatures in gravitational waves and black hole mergers. Connections to string theory, AdS/CFT, and quantum extremal surfaces. By integrating quantum field theory, semiclassical gravity, and holographic principles, this paper contributes to the ongoing effort to unify quantum mechanics with general relativity, offering potential pathways to a deeper understanding of black hole thermodynamics and information retention. Keywords: Black hole information paradox, firewalls, Hawking radiation, quantum gravity, holography, entanglement entropy, ER=EPR, gravitational waves, black hole complementarity, quantum extremal surfaces.
