Dakṣiṇbaṅger Aitihyabahi Kankaṛaburir Mahatya
According to the scriptures, a specific ritual has been developed for any puja festival, especially in regional areas where vegetarian food is prepared on the day of the puja or where a fast is celebrated on that day. An exception to the conventional rules is being observed in the case of the famous folk goddess 'Kankra Buri' of Namkhana in South 24 Parganas district. There is a change in the rules in every field, starting from the worship method. The worship of the goddess there (of Namkhana) is done according to Tantra. The worship will not start unless a crab from the sea comes out of the river. Non-vegetarian food is offered as an offering. Various such stories are intertwined in this 65-year-old famous temple. A month-long fair is organized around this worship, and devotees from far and wide gather in the temple to fulfill their desires. But with the evolution of society and civilization, human thought has transformed. Modern scientific-minded people have now left behind the divine thought, but in all cases they have not been able to completely eradicate the reforms made by their ancestors from the roots. The mythological gods and goddesses that have developed in many places in Bengal have maintained their existence on the faith of the people, although their original form has undergone changes. The reasons behind all these phenomena have been discussed in the article through a survey.
