Detection of Contaminants in Research Laboratories and Health Centers for Ensuring Occupational Safety Resulting from Contamination with Fungi and Bacteria
Attention to the quality of health centers and research laboratories had become an important fundamental in these places, and one of the most important elements was that these places are free of pathogenic microbes and their secretions that caused the spread of diseases as a result of contamination. The research aimed to study the contamination of research laboratories and medical centers with different types of bacteria and fungi. The danger of microbial contamination extended in the transfer of various pathogens from work research centers and medical centers to working people and commanded to their adhesion to wounds and thus their infection or inhalation by workers, which led to the emergence of respiratory problems, systemic diseases, various allergies and public health problems, especially among people who had a device weak immune system. The total number of samples was 100 isolates, of which 60% samples showed positive growth and 40 % isolates showed negative growth. The samples under study were collected during the time period from September to December during 2023, where the positive growth was showed bacterial samples examined was 40% and 20% fungal samples. Gram-positive and negative bacteria were isolated from the isolated samples that included bacteria Staphylococcus spp, Streptococcus pyogenes, Bacillus and enterobacteriaceae. The research also revealed the diversity of the isolated fungi, which included different types of fungi such as Aspergillus , Penicillium , Fusarium , Rhizopus and Mucor.
