In the Tamil land, which has a long history of theatrical culture, stage plays and reading plays took on written form only at the end of the nineteenth century. Due to the lack of the advent of radio and television, such plays developed rapidly. However, in the early stages, the plays mostly had mythological and epic themes. The stories that people knew through street plays were presented as plays. People especially liked to watch plays with songs. Later, as the Enlightenment era and social consciousness began to prevail, some social plays also emerged. Plays were performed in the name of Vilasa plays. Plays were created in such a way that songs, dialogues, etc. were given equal importance. Thus, the number of social plays increased by the middle of the twentieth century. Among those responsible for such growth, this article aims to explain the theatrical skills of Mr. So. Ramasamy, who was a versatile artist in politics, cricket, the silver screen, stage drama, and journalism.
