Evaluating Lightweight Exterior Cladding Materials: Effects on Building Performance and Longevity

Abstract: This study examines the implementation of lightweight materials in exterior cladding systems, assessing their influence on overall building performance and durability. Employing comprehensive literature reviews and comparative analyses, the research identifies key benefits, including improved thermal insulation, reduced structural loads, and economic efficiencies. Nonetheless, potential drawbacks such as environmental vulnerability and inconsistent durability were also identified. Recommendations emphasize strategic selection and maintenance practices to optimize these materials' performance and lifespan. Keywords: lightweight materials, exterior cladding systems, structural loads.
