Evaluation of Trace Hydrogen Sulfide Mitigation Technologies in Natural Gas Processing Systems

Processing steps of natural gas includes large amount of hydrogen sulfide as impurities. The existence of this impurity provides important hurdles associated to facilities corrosion, safety and compliance to guidelines environmentally. This research examined different applications of science in eliminating hydrogen Sulfide traces, focusing on sourcing steps with exact condition operationally, mainly at gas flow rate of 15MMSCF/D. The factors are efficiency of scavenging, mass flow rate of H₂S, the scavenger rate of consumption, time of breakthrough, time of contact with the agents of scavenging, drop in pressure across the operational system, and overall cost in performance operationally. The research outcome showed credible rate of efficiency at 99.987%, emanating to decreased in concentration of hydrogen sulfide to level that it cannot be known. The importance of this efficacy helped in safety standard and environmental adherence maintenance. The study investigation showed that, the mass flow rate of H₂S 849,361kg/day. Tallying, the scavenging consumption agent at 2,523,220kg/day. More investigation detailed scavenger breakthrough when it is saturated and ineffective in eliminating H₂S, happened after 1.02 min. The result explains how important it is for agents of scavenging in sustenance of system strength and ensure efficiency continuously in elimination of H₂S. This paper likewise documented pressure drop that is decreased at 207.75pa cutting across the operational system, which shows less loss in energy operationally and increasing to overall efficiency steps. But not overemphasizing the economic viabilities, the cost of operation daily as estimated maintenance with high efficiency of scavenging is $424,680.50. The amount explains the economic equilibrium which exist between operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Together, these results show the important functions at which modern techniques of scavenging with devices in eliminating and sustaining H₂S with effectiveness of natural gas manufacturing.
