A CRITICAL EXAMINATION OF NARROW AI'S ROLE IN SHAPING HUMAN CREATIVITY
As Artificial Intelligence(AI) continues to advance, its influence extends beyond automation and data processing, reaching into domains once thought to be uniquely human such as creativity. While AI can generate art, compose music, and assist in design, does it truly create, or is it merely an extension of human ingenuity? Creativity, at its core, involves imagination, originality, and emotional depth-traits that AI, as a system driven by data and patterns, does not inherently possess. However, AI is not without impact. The way we conceive, refine, and express creative ideas is increasingly shaped by AI-driven tools, influencing fields such as education, design, and the arts. This paper critically examines the evolving relationship between AI and human creativity, arguing that while AI is not autonomously creative, it plays a significant role in augmenting human imagination. It presents four key recommendations for integrating AI into creative processes while preserving the essence of human ingenuity. Additionally, it explores the ethical and philosophical implications of AI-generated content, particularly in educational settings, where fostering original thought is essential. As AI reshapes creative workflows, understanding its limitations and potential is crucial for ensuring that technology serves as an enabler rather than a replacement for human creativity.
