DiSSCo Flanders 2.0: Quantitative and qualitative impact analysis

This document presents a quantitative and qualitative impact analysis of DiSSCo Flanders 2.0, the Flemish contribution to the European Distributed System of Scientific Collections (DiSSCo). It assesses the realised impact from 2020–2024 and outlines expected impacts for 2025–2028, focusing on enhanced digitisation, accessibility, and preservation of natural science collections. Key performance indicators (KPIs) track progress in digitisation, research usage, citizen science engagement, and scientific output. The document highlights advances in infrastructure, technical innovation, and institutional collaboration, as well as the societal, educational, and economic valorisation of collections. Lessons learned from the first project phase inform strategic priorities, positioning DiSSCo Flanders within the Flemish, Belgian, and European research infrastructure landscape as a driver for scientific excellence, public engagement, and sustainable resource management.
