Introduction to research data management
In this 60 min talk, I introduced participants of the Biodiversity of Plants Lab at the Philipps University of Marburg to basic aspects of research data management. The first part discusses motivations and solutions for improved research data management specific for ecological and biodiversity data. The second part gives an overview of simple, hands-on improvements of research data management along the data life cycle. The third part showcases some tools and services for research data management provided by NFDI4Biodiversity (discipline specific), by the Hessian Research Data Management Infrastructures (HeFDI) (generic) and by the eResearch Center of the Philipps University of Marburg (generic). To get started with research data management, feel free to take a look at the available NFDI4Biodiversity training resources, and at workshops and Open Educational Resources (OERs) provided by HeFDI. The Philipps University of Marburg further offers various courses on research data management for Bachelor and Master students (MarSkills) and for PhD students (MARA), as well as generic and discipline specific OER in Ilias and more (e.g. Environmental Informatics working group). Finally, the Uni Marburg project EnableD curates a list of self-paced online tutorials on digital literacy for students, lecturers, researchers and administrative and technical staff.
